1.   Go On-line. Visit your local city websites to find free events, fairs, festivals, sporting events and performances. Also, check travel sites like Frommers.com or Citysearch.com for your city.

2.   Be a tourist. Stop by the Local Visitor and Convention bureau. Pick up brochures and booklets that contain discount information or coupons. Find the local visitor bureau website for your city and surrounding counties to get free coupons.  by going to a search engine.

3.   Local magazine. Does your town have a local family magazine? Check it out or go on-line. Also, look at newspaper listings and the Moms’ section on your newspaper's website.

4.   Try the high school. Take the kids to a local high school game or theater event. Complete with concessions and the crowd, your youngest kids will enjoy it just as much as a professional game and you’ll save 90%.

5.   Look for the minor leagues. Check out the websites of minor league professional teams to get inexpensive tickets.
