Five Ways to Save...

Based on Your Shopping Personality:

The Busy Shopper

by Stephanie Nelson

1. Are you a busy shopper? Do you have little time to plan? First, stop at the entrance and find a store flyer. Glance at it to mentally plan meals based on advertised sales.

2. Make a list. Even if it is on the fly! Use scrap paper or your smartphone. Make a list in the car before you enter the store or as soon as you enter and pick-up a flyer, take a few moments to jot down your menu ideas.

3. Avoid Impulse shopping. Stick to your list! Beware of expensive displays, the bakery, and the gourmet deli section.

4. Walk the perimeter. Avoid pre-packaged convenience in the middle of the store. Stick to the perimeter of the store and look for featured sales in meat, produce, and dairy.

5. Look. Look for special promotions in the store ad and take advantage of automatic savings available (such as a free gallon of milk with the purchase of 2 boxes of cereal). Watch for coupons in the store: on packages or on shelf displays.
